What are A-levels?

A levels are the exams taken in the UK in the final two years of secondary school, they are the equivalent to ЕГЭ in Russia. These are very important as they decide which, if any, university you will be able to get into. Students usually take 3-4 A levels in subjects that are relevant to their desired field of study in university. For example, someone hoping to study Medicine, might take A-levels in Chemistry, Biology, Physics and Maths. One of the most important decisions you will make is which A-levels to take. One must be tactical even at this early stage to choose subjects that you will perform well in, but also that are taken seriously by the best universities.

How long does it take to prepare for A-levels?

For 3 or more A-levels, it usually takes 2 years to study and prepare for exams. Students typically spend 5-7 hours of teaching time per week plus homework of around 4-5 hours. It is a long process that requires extremely hard work to attain the best results.

No, it is not necessary to have A levels to enter a UK university but it helps a lot with the process, it is the most simplified process of entry. If you do not have A-levels you have 2 options, you can complete one year of university in Russia at a recognised university or you can do a foundation course at a UK university. After you complete this you can apply for an undergraduate course.

Why do I need a tutor for A levels?

A levels are some of the most challenging and important exams students take. How you perform in these exams often determines which university you are able to get into.
